Sustainable Infrastructure Finance Course

Investment in low-carbon and climate-resilient urban infrastructure is essential if the urban environment is to be sustainable in the long term. Despite the availability of capital for sustainable infrastructure investment projects, a commercially viable and investment-ready project pipeline is missing. This lack of a project pipeline is a barrier to the scaling of low-carbon, climate-resilient infrastructure projects.

Bridging the Gap With This Online Course

Together with the support of the MAVA Foundation, a course on Sustainable Infrastructure Finance launched this month on the Climate-KIC Learning Platform. If you are a local or regional government official, or a project developer, you can discover how to prepare the case for investment and the steps involved in a successful financial transaction.

The course consists of three modules designed to provide insights from experienced bankers on the knowledge you need when embarking on a sustainable infrastructure investment process. After completing this course, users will be able to: explain what makes a project investable, including the financial and non-financial benefits on offer; identify and mitigate potential risks; identify the most appropriate sources of finance; describe the transaction process for investments in sustainable infrastructure projects; choose the best project vehicle and financial model; and use appropriate language and standards of behaviour.
