New Polish Coal Power Plant not Viable Because of Climate Risks

ClientEarth reports that two major Polish energy firms are at risk if they proceed with planned investments in a new coal power plant. Both firms are at risk of facing legal claims by their shareholders because the economic viability of the coal plant cannot be demonstrated. The impact of carbon prices, future EU energy reforms and other climate-related policy risks affect the economic viability of the coal plant to the extent that the two energy firms could become "permanently unprofitable." Taking these risks into account helps  demonstrate the business case for the shift away from investment in fossil fuel-based energy production to renewable options.
