Does Investing in Low-Carbon Infrastructure Make Sense for Institutional Investors?

The Imperial College Business School has published a new report exploring the potential for institutional investors to invest in low-carbon infrastructure, and more specifically in clean energy projects. It finds that "Sustainable energy infrastructure has the potential to be a unique asset class whose risk/return characteristics cannot be replicated within existing investment portfolios." It emphasizes, however, that this is still in its infancy and there is a great need for better risk analysis of clean energy projects.
